Recidivism:

Improving Nonviolent African American Ex-Offender Post-Release Recidivism

35% of federal inmates are African American, while African Americas are reported to constitute roughly 13% of national inhabitants. African Americans are also disproportionately represented in state and county incarceration populations.
Many non-violent African American ex-offenders will be released from detention, and many have few or no resources. Scores of non-violent African American ex-offenders will be removed from custody, and many have little or no help. Non-violent African American ex-offenders’ experience more frequent incidents of post-release employee discrimination than their white counterparts.
Many nonviolent African American ex-offenders wrestle with massive holdup throughout the reentry process and getting profitable employment is critical to lowering recidivism.

We will address minimizing nonviolent African American ex-offender post-release recidivism.
