Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming education and society at an unprecedented pace. Education leaders, teachers, parents, and students must develop AI literacy and understand its ethical implications to navigate this AI-driven era. This session will introduce foundational AI concepts, explore its role in education through the lens of Ubuntu ethics, and provide actionable strategies for using Generative AI tools responsibly and ethically.

Presenter: Alecia Blackwood is an author, consultant, coach, facilitator, international speaker, and former Fulbright-Hays Scholar for Namibia and Botswana with over 25 years of experience in education. Dr. Blackwood is recognized as one of the leading experts in the USA on Ubuntu pedagogy, a humanistic approach to fostering student engagement in teaching and learning. She was recently awarded the 2024 International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) faculty research fellow, where she is exploring research on Artificial Intelligence(AI) in school environments. She is also an Assistant Professor of Education at Longwood University in Virginia.
