"Afro-Brits", "Afro-Europeans" and Racism:

What is the State of the African Diaspora in Europe? What Can We Learn from Their Experience?

With an estimated population of 15-20 million from Sweden to Spain and Iceland to Ukraine, Afro-Europeans have held a centuries-old, vastly prominent, yet little acknowledged presence in European society.

We will examine the dispersion of the African Diaspora in Europe, local contexts of African Internationalism, the prevalence of Afrophobia, and the recent wave of Black elected officials in European Parliament down to city municipalities who are building Black solidarity within and across national borders.

Presenter: Momoudou Taal is a British law graduate who is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Africana Studies at Cornell University. His research focuses on racial-capitalism, political-economy and Pan-Africanism. Momodou is also the host of The Malcolm Effect podcast, which is a platform dedicated to providing political education in an accessible manner.
