HARRIET TUBMAN:

How her lesser-known personality, healing tools and interpersonal interactions with her passengers were an important aspect of her success as a liberator.

We will contrast the historical/popular/mainstream imaginings of Harriet Tubman with the realities of who she was, and a brief biographical overview of her life, from her lineage/origins to her childhood and upbringing and emphasis on lesser known facts.

We will explore the feminine character and culturally based strategies that directly ensured Harriet’s success as a leader of freedom seekers, along with her community of freedom fighters, including women, who directly contributed to her success.

Presenter – Dr. Iyelli Ichile, Professor of African Studies
